The original watercolor was painted in 2007. Banyans are my favorite tree. They are sacred trees to both the Hindu and Buddhist religions, and are thought to be immortal. This piece depicts a small section of the tree that sits next to Thomas Edison's laboratory in Ft. Myers, Florida. To add some color, I introduced a macaw into the piece. Macaws are primarily from Peru I believe, but I'm not sure if banyan trees actually grow there.
